The Lipan Apache Tribe’s 53nd Annual Dakee Si (Fall Gathering) Pow-Wow will be on October 28, 2023, in Alton, Texas, at the Alton Community Center. Our pow wows are an important and important time for our tribe members to socialize, learn, and practice our cultural traditions. Tribe Council Vice-chair Robert Soto reports that at last year’s fall pow-wow there over 45 participating dancers, 15 vendors, and over 1500 spectators. We've had dancers join from all over including the local region, throughout Texas, across the US, and even the Netherlands. With each pow wow, we demonstrate a stronger community of our people. The pow wow is admission free and open to the general public.
All our vendor spots are now taken. We will be hosting fifteen vendors at our powwow. If you desire to be placed on a waiting list, please contact Debbie Robertson at 956-780-4933.
This pow-wow celebration is organized and run by volunteers led by Robert Soto, Vice-chair of the Tribe, who coordinate the general fund-raising and sponsors, special guests, drum group, arena set-up, vendors, and entire pow-wow schedule.
This year, again, we will be giving day money for first 55 dancers who register for session 1 Grand Entry and/or session 2 Grand Entry. So any registered dancer can receive $20 for each Grand Entry (that is up to $40 if dancer participates in each of the grand entries). Registered dancers in the "day money offer" must be in full outfit and dancing in the circle for the complete session. The First Grand Entry starts at 1 PM with dancing until 4:30 PM and the second grand entry will be from 7 PM with the dancing until 9:30 PM.
We would like to thank the City of Alton TX for their generous donation of the use of their beautiful Recreation Center for the powwow.

This year, Badger Runners—Robbie Soto (White/North Badger) and a Tribe Elder who wishes to remain annonymous (Black/South Badger) —will cover the 5 miles distance.
