The Lipan Apache Tribe is proud to serve as a Community Partner for the 2026 Dallas International Film Festival (DIFF), taking place April 23–30 in Dallas. As part of this partnership, the Tribe is honored to help promote this year’s festival and to spotlight the powerful new film Keep Quiet, starring Lou Diamond Phillips.
Founded in 2006, DIFF has grown into one of the region’s most important cultural events, featuring more than 120 film screenings from across the globe. The festival brings together filmmakers, actors, industry leaders, and audiences for panels, Q&A sessions, red carpet events, and educational programming. Recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as an Oscar® Qualifying Festival, DIFF is committed to elevating diverse voices and celebrating film as an accessible and inclusive art form.
As a Community Partner, the Lipan Apache Tribe is especially proud to support Keep Quiet, starring acclaimed actor Lou Diamond Phillips, alongside Nick Stahl and Dana Namerode. The film follows a seasoned tribal police officer and his trainee as they search for a dangerous fugitive. When the fugitive returns to a remote Indigenous reservation, long-buried secrets emerge, threatening to ignite a violent conflict.
Keep Quiet had its North American premiere at the Dallas International Film Festival (DIFF) before its theatrical release by Lionsgate. The screening took place on Saturday, April 25, at the historic Texas Theatre. Representatives from the Lipan Apache Tribe—Rachel Salinas (Councilwoman), Hermelinda Ryan Walking Woman (Tribal Administrator), and Ausben Strongheart (Tribe's Social Media Specialist)—honored the film and Lou Diamond Phillips before the screening. They presented him with two gifts from the Tribe: a medallion beaded by Councilman Daniel Villarreal and a Native American blanket. The film is scheduled for nationwide release in July 2026.
In addition to the screening, Lou Diamond Phillips was honored during the festival as the recipient of the DIFF Dallas Star Award. He was recognized at a special luncheon on Friday, April 24, where he talked about Keep Quiet and reflected on his distinguished career in film and television. Phillips first gained national recognition for his performances in La Bamba, Stand and Deliver, and Young Guns, and continues to be an influential figure in the entertainment industry.
The Dallas International Film Festival plays a vital role in building community through storytelling, offering year-round screenings, educational programs, and partnerships that engage audiences and uplift creative voices. The Tribe encourages everyone to take part in this year’s festival and to support Keep Quiet and other featured films by attending their screenings.
